Dr. David Hay, Professor of Auditing, University of Auckland, Business School

David’s international research has had a significant influence. David is a former winner of the “Notable Contribution to the Auditing Literature Award” presented by the Auditing Section of the American Accounting Association, with his co-authors. He is also co-author of a recent reference book on auditing and auditing research, The Routledge Companion to Auditing, and an author of more than 90 articles in refereed journals, books, and book chapters. David has played a substantial role in the publication of auditing research, serving as Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Auditing from 2014 to 2022 and as editor of Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory. He is an editorial board member of many other research journals.

David has had extensive professional auditing experience and has been active in professional accounting activities. He was, until recently, a member of the New Zealand Auditing and Assurance Standards Board.
